Air New Zealand

Kids Fares
Infants younger than two years of age, and who do not require a seat, pay 10 per cent of the full adult fare. Children aged between two and 11 years of age pay 75 per cent of the accompanying adult’s fare, plus taxes and surcharges.

Kids Luggage Allowance
Each child is allowed two pieces of luggage weighing 23kg per piece, which is the same as for adults.
Infants are entitled to the same, including car seats and strollers, but they are not entitled to any additional allowances linked to the accompanying passengers frequent flyer tier status.

Kids Entertainment
There’s a dedicated kids zone within the on-demand entertainment system offering G-rated blockbuster movies, classic favourites, TV shows, games, music and audio story CDs. The kids zone is hosted by two popular New Zealand animated series characters, Buzz and Poppy, who are huhu grubs (a native NZ species).
While children can access the general entertainment options of the in-flight entertainment system, there is a parental lock option on offer.

Kids Meals
There is an extensive healthy kids’ menu that includes a mini prime beef hamburger and chunky chips, or grilled chicken breast with roast potatoes, honey glazed carrots and minted peas, and sweet desserts, of course.  Make sure to book your kids meals when you make your reservation.

Kids Packs
Air New Zealand has recently revamped its kids’ packs, creating three new cute characters. There’s Kerry Kiwi, Ted Tuatara and Phizz Fantail, all endemic New Zealand species.
The complimentary packs come in two versions, one suitable for three to six year olds and the other for seven to 12 year olds. It includes themed snap cards, coloured pencils, a Ted Tuatara maze pencil sharpener, magic slate and activity books.

Babies on board
On long haul services to the USA, parents can request an infant meal when making a reservation. Alternatively, parents are welcome to bring their own baby food and feeding equipment on board. Air New Zealand cabin crew can prepare, heat and wash bottles whenever needed, however there are no sterilising facilities on board the aircraft.

Long haul flights also supply parents and carers with a baby care kit containing wipes, baby lotion, a bib and a souvenir teddy bear. There is also a limited supply of drinking cups and milk formula for emergency use.

Infant bassinets are carried on Air New Zealand international 747,777, 767 and A320 services. Reserving bassinets is restricted to infants under eight months. Infants from eight to 15 months may be allocated bassinets on a first available basis at the airport if they have not already been pre-reserved for younger infants.

Air New Zealand does not provide infant meals, baby or kid’s packs on short haul flights across the Tasman or Pacific Islands, but can assist with preparing and heating bottles and food brought on board by parents.
