British Airways

Kids Fares
An infant fare is 10 per cent of an adult fare, or free if travelling within the UK.  Child fares cover those aged from two to 12 years and are 75 per cent of an adult fare.

Kids Luggage Allowance
For the under twos, it’s one bag weighing up to 23kg plus a collapsible pram or stroller. In addition, a parent can carry a standard-sized bag onto the aircraft for the baby, along with their own allowance. For children, it’s also 23kg per bag, and one bag per person.

Kids Entertainment
BA has the Disney and Cartoon Network channels, plus family blockbuster movies for the kids. A parental lock enables you to block viewing of any unsuitable material on other channels. There are also plenty of games on the majority of routes, which can be played using the handheld games console.

Kids Meals
Children’s meals are available for ages two to 11 years and need to be booked in advance. The airline guarantees at least five portions of fruit or vegetables in every meal. The meals are fun, with menu options such as vegetable sticks with dips, and chocolate-coated fruit.

For families who forget to pre-book children’s meals, or if children prefer more grown-up food, there are family-friendly meals such as pasta available. Parents are advised to bring their own baby formula and food, both of which can be prepared and heated on board. The airline’s "feed families first" policy ensures that children are first in line for their meal.

Kids Packs
Children aged three to five years receive a backpack, while six to 12 year olds get a shoulder pack. The packs contain age-appropriate games and activities such as a cuddly Skyflyer toy, sticker books, reading books, electronic games, top trumps playing cards, notebook and pen, magazine with activities and write and wipe magnetic board.

Babies on board
Parents travelling with an infant aged under two years can request a specially designed travel cot or a British Airways infant seat, the latter being designed by Britax, the UK’s leading manufacturer of children’s car seats. There is no extra charge, however you will need to book early to avoid missing out.

British Airways will allow passengers to take small prams right to the aircraft door.
There is on-board bottle warming and baby-food warming facilities (only for un-opened food in a sealed jar) but BA does not carry infant meals or baby milk, nor can it sterilise bottles or provide sterilised water. You will need to bring your own baby food and equipment (such as sterilised water and sufficient supplies of sterilised bottles) in your cabin baggage. Although, be aware of the new enhanced security measures, ask your consultant.
