On this unique family journey discover the streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter by cyclo, inspirational Halong Bay on an overnight boat, and the tunnels of Cu Chi on your hands and knees! Our ‘Vietnamese Hotpot’ is your family’s perfect introduction to Indochina, and is sure to be a hit with the young and the young at heart.

 

The quality of accommodation is a real highlight of this trip. Hotels are usually centrally located, three-star or best available with private, western style bathrooms, airconditioning and pools (except in Hanoi). All road travel is in comfortable minibuses or mid-sized coaches. Your journey is escorted by both a Western tour leader, based on a minimum of seven travellers, and a local English-speaking guide in each location. Groups are never more than 15 travellers in size.

 

Day 1 – Arrive Hanoi

Upon arrival in Hanoi you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight meet your tour leader (or local guide) for welcome drinks and a tour briefing. One night Zephyr Hotel.

Day 2 – Hanoi

An overnight boat on Halong Bay provides stunning views of the mountains and water. One night overnight boat.

Day 3 – Halong Bay to Hanoi

Disembark this afternoon and drive to Hanoi and enjoy an evening Water Puppets show. One night Zephyr Hotel.

Day 4 – Hanoi to Hue

See historic Ba Dinh Square, the peaceful Temple of Literature, the infamous Hanoi Hilton Prison and take an exhilarating cyclo ride through the Old Quarter before boarding the Reunification Express this evening for your journey south to Hue. One night overnight train.

Day 5 - Hue

Encounter the ancient imperial capital’s tombs, Citadel and journey by boat along the Perfume River before tonight’s sumptuous Imperial Dinner. One night Huong Giant Hotel.

Day 6 – Hue to Hoi An

Drive south along the dramatic coastal road at Hai Van Pass to Hoi An. Enjoy the architecture, local delicacies and friendly locals that make Hoi An a true Vietnam highlight. Two nights Hoi An Resort.

Day 7 – Hoi An

Explore the countryside on a cyclo and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to visit Hoi An’s tailors, galleries and nearby beach. In the late afternoon take a sunset boat cruise along the beautiful Thu Bon River.

Day 8 – Hoi An to Saigon

Fly to Saigon and see the sights of old and new Saigon in the central ‘French quarter’, the bustling market streets and old temples of Saigon’s ‘Chinatown’. One night Metropole Hotle.

Day 9 – Saigon to Vinh Long

Explore the Mekong Delta’s canals, orchards and towns by boat before heading to a Mekong village to stay in a local home with a friendly family. One night Vinh Long Home-Stay.

Day 10 – Vinh Long to Saigon
